A History of Fathom 4

The Idea is Planted

The Idea is Planted

Glenn and Brian have lunch at a pizza joint one day (formerly DeRoma’s Pizza) and toss out the crazy idea of leaving our current jobs to sow our entrepreneurial oats. While supporting young families, this is obviously nuts and our wives and families, for some odd reason, took confidence in us to give it a shot.

Our Logo Comes to Life

Our Logo Comes to Life

An anonymous friend comes up with the logo on a bar napkin and Brian and Glenn love it so much that they don’t even entertain any other ideas. Our price paid for the logo design came in the form of an 18 year old bottle of scotch.

Fathom 4 is Born!

Fathom 4 is Born!

After much thought and reflection with their families, Glenn and Brian open the doors of Fathom 4 in Charleston, SC overlooking Daniel Island Marina in hopes of finding the most effective way to support our servicemen and women.

First Paying Gig!

First Paying Gig!

We win our first job from NetGain for proposal support for an incredible amount of $900. The world is our oyster and we are able to partially pay the rent on our office in the first month. Not a single other expense, just partial rent. There is no stopping us!

First DoD Project Win

First DoD Project Win

Fathom 4 wins a subK to support Fleet Numerical Meteorology and Oceanography Center (FNMOC) in Monterey, CA. This begins Glenn’s many travels to the west coast as we start to get Fathom 4 off the ground.

First Local SSC-LANT Project Win

First Local SSC-LANT Project Win

We win our first local task order in the form of a Simplified Acquisition Process through SSC-LANT supporting C4ISR engineering and integration on various versions of tactical vehicles. This comes as a real relief going into our first Christmas as a company.
